South Bethlehem Neighborhood Festival
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, Lehigh Valley Sierra Club joined 20 area non-profit organizations at a South Bethlehem Neighborhood Festival held at Fourth and Hayes Street in Bethlehem. The event, sponsored by the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley and its "Outdoors and Wellness Committee" (of which LV Sierra Club is a member), provided South Bethlehem families with a fun Saturday featuring children's games, free healthy food and beverages, a marionette puppet children's workshop, children's dance, and big "bouncy house".
LV Sierra Club volunteers passed out a flyer highlighting nearby fun "family walk" destinations (such as Lehigh Canal towpath, Allentown's Lehigh Parkway trails, and the Nor-Bath rail-trail), as well as a discussion of how easy family walks/hikes are a fun way to build children's health and explore the outdoors. Several hundred families were happy to receive the flyer and discuss free outdoor family adventures with the LV Sierra Club volunteers.
